ORLANDO HADDOCK HAS BEEN PERFORMING AS A LEAD TRUMPET PLAYER and soloist for over a decade. Most recently, he was on tour overseas as the lead trumpet player for a show band onboard a cruise ship. Prior to this engagement, he was a member of the Alhambra Orchestra, as well as a board member and the lead trumpeter for the University of Miami Alumni Big Band. His varied music career has included performances in Argentina, Australia, Austria, England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. Passionate about inspiring others, Mr. Haddock can often be found mentoring musicians, volunteering, and playing with local community bands.

Raised and educated in New York City, Mr. Haddock received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the City College of New York. While at City College, he studied jazz history, improvisation, and composition under the tutelage of renowned bassist Ron Carter and was a member of the Ron Carter Small Jazz Ensemble. In graduate school, he immersed himself in an interdisciplinary college experience in the field of jazz studies, including harmony, history, arranging and composition, pedagogy and practicum, private instruction, and ensemble recitals.

At Florida International University, he benefited from working in a conservatory-style atmosphere alongside internationally celebrated performers and composers, scholars, and teachers dedicated to inspiring and mentoring the next generation of music leaders. In Miami, one of the country’s most vibrant, diverse, and creative cities, Mr. Haddock had the opportunity to play and learn from award-winning artists. During his time in Miami, he appeared in a number of live performances at Miami’s only jazz radio station (WDNA) with a variety of ensembles.


Because Music Education Never Ends…

In addition to completing a Master of Music at Florida International University (FIU), Mr. Haddock continues learning, researching, and studying music at a variety of institutions around the world.
