ORLANDO HADDOCK is a seasoned professional in the world of music, celebrated for his mastery as a lead trumpet player and soloist, which he has honed over more than a decade of dedicated performance. With a rich and diverse background, Orlando has graced stages around the globe, showcasing his talent and passion for music.

Most notably, Orlando recently completed a successful tour overseas as the lead trumpet player for a show band aboard a prestigious cruise ship, captivating audiences with his exceptional skill and artistry. Prior to this remarkable engagement, he contributed his talents to the renowned Alhambra Orchestra and served as a board member and lead trumpeter for the esteemed University of Miami Alumni Big Band.

Orlando’s musical journey has taken him across continents, with performances in Argentina, Australia, Austria, England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. His experiences have not only enriched his own artistry but have also allowed him to immerse himself in diverse musical traditions, fostering a deep appreciation for global musical expression.

A native of New York City, Orlando’s musical education began at the City College of New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Under the mentorship of acclaimed bassist Ron Carter, he delved into jazz history, improvisation, and composition, while also contributing his talents to the Ron Carter Small Jazz Ensemble. Continuing his pursuit of musical excellence, Orlando pursued graduate studies in jazz studies, further refining his skills in harmony, arranging, composition, and pedagogy.

His time at Florida International University provided him with a conservatory-style environment, where he collaborated with internationally recognized performers, composers, and scholars. In the vibrant and culturally rich city of Miami, Orlando embraced opportunities to learn from award-winning artists, making significant contributions to the local music scene. His performances on Miami’s premier jazz radio station, WDNA, underscore his commitment to sharing his musical gifts with the community.

Beyond his performances on stage and in the studio, Orlando is deeply committed to inspiring and mentoring aspiring musicians. Whether through volunteering, mentoring sessions, or collaborating with local community bands, he continually seeks to uplift and empower the next generation of music leaders.
